Hey after dawn folks,

To save myself some time and money, wondering if anyone has used the LG 4167B extensively and what media type they've found to work best on it. There's obviously brands listed on the 'recommended brands' list for the drive, but I'm curious about personal experience and what you folks have found that this LG drive has worked best with.

Merci!

I have a 4167B in an external enclosure. Here is a scan of a Verbatim branded Taiyo Yuden TYG02 DVD-R I burned today.

I have 4 GSA-4167B Burners, (Internal) Up to date firmware DL12. These drives LOVE Verbatim DVD+R media 8x & 16x, Sony Made in Japan DVD+R 8X (Taiyo Yuden coded YUDEN000 T02) Made in Japan Fuji 8x (Same Taiyo Yuden code) Maxell Made in Taiwan 8x (RITEKG05) Sony DVD+R Made in Taiwan Media. These are the ones I KNOW work Very well with these LG drives. Stick with any of these for Best Results in my opinion. Also, Burn them at 4x OR 1/2 the rated speed.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

blatantly plagiarising part of A_T's reply as it saves me typing (except my 4167B is internal to the PC, my 4163B is in the enclosure.. argh it hasn't saved me any typing LOL) -

i can only do 4x in these 2 drives. i sometimes get 8x out of either/both drives on Verb TY discs but more often than not i get errors at the lead-in stage such as "invalid field in command" or whatever which wrecks the disc. so i'm back to doing 4x on these drives which is fine as i've done many 100s this way since i bought the LG drives
