Unfortunitly I couldn?t reply to a Previous Post on this Subject as it is more then 60 Days old and I?m a Newbie, but anyway here is the Original Post of which I?m referring to: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/71488

--------------------

Hi, Newbie here so go easy with me lol,
Anyway I?m Serving for My Country (British Army) and were off to Germany to be Stationed their (god knows how long for) anyway I have the Band of Brothers Box set on DVD (Region 2, UK) and basically I want to make a of Back-Up copy for it so I can take it to Germany and watch it on my Laptop?

?And after reading the above suggestions I?m still baffled with what to actually do for my next step, hmmm, I?ve downloaded the new ?DVD Shrink? via this Website: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_... Version 3.2.0.15 yet I?m not quite sure what Software to get after that with relating to Burning the DVD?s on to Discs, I?ve read above that Nero goes good with this yet, I?m in a little bit of a rush and basically want some Freeware Software to then use after using ?DVD Shrink? to Burn, any Suggestions with relating to the Burning Software?

Anyway after the above I would ideally appreciate what exactly to get rid of (Un-tick) on the selection available in ?DVD Shrink? as I want Good Quality Copy?s etc. ideally I would like to hear results like willy2468 mentioned:

?all the backups look just as good as the originals.?

I.e. the Settings/Options to Un-Tick he done I would appreciate, anyway that?s all lol, Thanks for listening to me, well reading my post, and hope to hear from anyone soon?

Thanks.

Hi EnglishST.

I would be happier if you told me you're heading there to wait for the world cup... LOL

My advice is to try to find DVD Decripter. It's a very simple app to use.
Also, If all you want is to backup a few DVD's in a short period of time, then nothing can beat Slysoft's Clone DVD 2/AnyDVD Combo! Go to their website and just download the trial. It's 21 days worth so i reckon that's enough time for you...

If it ain't broken it doesn't need fixing...

Hey permiggs,
Unfortunitly I don't think it is as easy as that i.e. just cloning and doing a direct copy, I've tried and it doesn't work, I've been reading recent Posts about Copying "Band of Brothers" and it seems you have to Edit it etc. then Burn it, besides that I ain't got a clue and I'm totally stuck with what to do next...

Besides that unfortunitly I'm not going for the Football :( but I' sure if we get time off I'll be trying my best to get to a Game :D

Hi there EnglishST,
Let me try to help you. I dont have that set of DVDs but these tips should be able to get you by.
You want 1:1 copy? If so just get DVDDecrypter and ImgBurn, both free.
Open up Decrypter and let it read to ISO to you laptop. Once done open ImgBurn and find the MDS file for the ISO and burn that. If that DVD is DL then of course you need DL media and a burner that can do dL burns.
Now if you don't have the ability to do DL you can still open the same disc image that Decrypter created for you in DVDShrink under File>Open Disc Image. Set your target size to 4300MB, if you have good media you can set it higher just don't go all the way to 4464MB, and hit backup. A window will pop open, tick the boxes under Backup Quality Settings and DVD Shrink Quality Enhancements, click OK and let it do it its thing. Once finished you can go ahead and burn with Nero.
If this method doesn't work for you then you have other ways of doing it, but try this first and in case of failure let us know and will take it to the next level.

I backed up Band of Brothers with the free version of DVDRebuilder/HC encoder and burned with DVDDecrypter. No problems and excellent quality... (I have since upgraded to DVDRebuilderPro)

Hi dr_no,
Thanks for the help to be honest that all looks complicated with the downloading and ISO and what not, unfortunitly I was looking for something a lil' more straight forward, as I'm not quite a PC Expert, I was looking more towards the lines of what I mentioned above in my first post, with relating to geting a copy just like willy2468 mentiones:

?all the backups look just as good as the originals.?

Basically from what I know I need to have "DVD Shrink" from that I edit out (Un-Tick) certain options, not sure which ones to Un-Tick though... after that I guess you Burn it to Disc, of which i'm not familiar with what Software to use.

Ideally I would prefer to follow that Step, it seems so much more straight forward for me.

Basically, I Un-Tick a number of options (not sure which ones)
from that I guess I Burn the Disc and I'm done I have my:

Good Copy of my Originaly ready to take to Germany :D
?all the backups look just as good as the originals.?

None of the mentioned transcoders (Shrink, CloneDVD2, etc) can match the quality of DVD-RB/HC. Follow the setup instructions, and then it's just 1 click and burn!!!

I'm not to sure what you mean by that teflonmyk

"None of the mentioned transcoders (Shrink, CloneDVD2, etc) can match the quality of DVD-RB/HC. Follow the setup instructions, and then it's just 1 click and burn!!!"

---------

"I backed up Band of Brothers with the free version of DVDRebuilder and burned with DVDDecrypter. No problems and excellent quality... (I have since upgraded to DVDRebuilderPro)"

Hmmm so with what you done it's as easy as that?
All I would need to do is Download "DVDRebuilder" then Burn it with "DVDDecrypter" ? is DVDDecrypter Freeware? and do I need to Tick any options to get rid off on the "DVDDecrypter" if so what?
If that's all it would involve then that sounds simple as 1 2 3
Help would be much appreciated with what I've just asked above mate ;)

Cheers...

Download DVD Rebuilder Installer v0.96:

http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdown...

Download DVDDecrypter

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

Follow this guide for step-by-step instructions:

http://www.bitburners.com/Guides/DVD_Movie_Backups/DVD_Rebuilder_Pro/

Whatever combo you choose will involve some sort of initial set-up. After that, most are 1 or 2 clicks after that...

Hmm this is begining to look complicated, why does the "DVD Rebuilder" ask you for your Email Address with relating to your PayPal Address? I havn't started this yet, just read through the User Guide via the bottom link you posted, I didn't think it would be complicated like this, I would still not have a clue as to what Options to Un-Tick etc.

I thought it would have been just as straight forward using "DVD Shrink" of which to Un-Tick certain options, which I was looking for someone to share these Un-Ticked options from other people having done so while Copying "Band of Brother" then from their using some other form of Software (Freeware) to Burn it, that sounds simple enough to me, it's just finding out what Software (Freeware) to use to Burn and to find out what Boxes to Un-Tick in "DVD Shrink"

The PayPal link is to buy the Professional version. I advise you try the freeware version first... The guide tells you EXACTLY what to select/unselect...

EnglishST,
Any of the tips that were given to you are good and pretty simple IMO. Now it's up to you to do something about it if you want those backups. As they say no pain no gain :)I wouldnt mind coming over from where I am and do it for you but it would cost you a return airplane ticket:)

I will give it another look later tonight, gotta go for a Meal now though lol but yer I can get the DVD backed up onto my PC but it all goes "Pete Tong" (wrong) from their.

For the actual Setuping up (Step 1) of the DVD-RB I don't get the options as it says on the User Guide, as the Download is the Freeware version and this Guide is for the Pro version, so besides that I skiped that and just Installed it as it is.

Step 2, I managed to Load it through with the Mode, File of which all this I managed to get it to my Hard Drive in a Folder...

Step 3, DVD Rebuilder, this proved to be the problem, the User Interface is totally different to the one I downloaded (Free Version) of which I couldn't see the option for the "Current Source Path." Although i did manage to load in the Source Path via somewhere else on here of which it loaded it through etc. From their the Screenshots are totally different to what I have on the Download and the whole Options to get rid of.

I suppose a User Guide for the Free Version would help that little bit better?

Thanks.

Just an Update, I managed to do these copy's of Band of Brothers Disc's with the following Software:

anyDVD
cloneDVD

Here is the Guide what I followed, it was as easy as that, and straight forward without any Editing etc. the copy's are EXACT in my opinion, I can't see any difference what so ever...

Step by Step Guide
1. Insert Disc, Open "anyDVD" Keep this Running (in the background)
2. Then Open cloneDVD
3. Click "clone a dvd"
4. Click next a couple of times
5. Perfect Copy!

AMAZING RESULTS!

To be honest I don't even recall reading that bit, of only I read the combo of doing these Discs I would have had it solved awhile back, but anyway thanks for the help all, much appreciated ;)
