i have a ps2 in which the laser doesnt work anymore (fat v4 i believe). i also have a sony (final fantasy) hd. is there anyway to format the HD without putting the format disc in. i would rather not replace the laser if i dont have to. i have a usb-ide connector which i will use to load the games onto it and probably use the MC exploit so i never have to use the laser. is this possible does anyone know. my last 2 posts i was able to figure out myself but i doubt i will get this one since i havent been able to find any info that tells me how to do it without the format disc.

do you have a matrix infinity or dms modchip in it? If not, you still need your laser to run the exploit (it has to boot a ps1 game to work).

no unfortunatly my modchip is in my slimline. it is a modbo 2.0 (matrix clone) but that is completely of no help here. problem is i couldnt load a ps1 game even because lser is junk.
