Yes it is sony DVD-R.

I assume that if it could read the disk it would say "Please insert Playstation or Playstation 2 Disk", instead i get a disk read error.

Just a thought where did you buy your batch of Sony DVD-R? they are one of the best quality DVD media I know. but yet you could be fooled by one of those ebay seller who claims sony DVD-R while they are just princo.

try Universal media that's the only media i use now for PS2, loads every time with no problem(even with RW) if you don't know where to get them, recently I've receive newsletter from afterdown.com with their advertisement in it... http://www.dvd-supply.com

So you do get the please inset ps2 error message... dammit....that means that it cannot read my disk... I've tried DVD-R, and DVD+R neither is read.

Is it the write speed, or maybe the proggie that I'm using? I used RecordNow Max. I have Nero and can get CDRWin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is RecordNowMax because it is the best burning software out there(better than Nero) and I also use RecordNow for ps2 games.

Yes universal, princo, ritek, verbatims work great with ps2. I must say...If its a real Sony disc, they are awesome media....But dark purple media does work best, vs. the pink sides. I know most ps2's work with -r and +r, but I always felt that -r seem to be most compatible.
