Hi all......big fan of the site. Been reading posts for many moons. Any questions I had were always answered here. Absolutely one of my favorite sites....and I have done more than my share of "library building" :)

Has anyone ever heard of or encountered this God-awful "Roxioplasma"? I bought a 12 DVD set of videos from a guy in Europe. They will play fine on the PC but absolutely will not on any player. I get the dreaded "Playback prohibited by area limitations" error, as well as the DVD structure error encountered in DVDShrink. When I check the discs with ANYDVD, they all show to be NTSC and region free. It is absolutely no problem copying these as there "officially" is no encryption, but the copies are the same as the originals.....they will not play on any home decks. All I want to do is to be able to play these back into a Sony home deck recorder to consolidate discs. The DVDs are music-studio outtakes from 35 yrs ago - nothing fancy - and all about 35-45min in length (would REALLY like to know how to author a disc with menus, etc....like store-boughts).

What I noticed when I opened the DVDs is that there are only 2 folders: ROXIOPLASMA and VIDEO_TS. I Googled ROXIOPLASMA and found posts on Roxio's site of similiar no-play scenarios, but no real solution to follow either (I don't use Roxio, but have access to it if need be).

Is anyone familiar with this Roxio nonsense or have any ideas how to get these converted to play in a home deck?
