Hi Afterdawn people!

Well, I had a HDD crash again (2nd one in 7 months) and so when trying to re-license my so far excellent DVD Xcopy it's not having any of it... time to buy some new software!

I've read the 'rave' reviews of AnyDVD and clone DVD - but what I'd like is a piece of software that can burn a DVD from the hard drive as well as the usual real time process...

I also have DVD Xcopy Xpress for making compressed copies which seems to work very well indeed and the license for that worked upon re-installing.

There's a piece of software that's been reviewed as the best all round here http://dvd-copy-software.topchoicereviews.com/
and it can copy a film to HDD so I can burn later and its called 1Click DVD. Is it recommended ? or should I go the anydvd and clone dvd route? note that clone dvd came 6th in the review

reading Video Vault - I really really like the feature set in it and it came second! I think I may prefer this over 1click DVD!

So out of the 3, 1click DVD, Video Vault & Clone DVD - which one gets the nod of approval from you guys?!!

Cheers for now!

I'd get the AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 combo! I'd also get Nero OEM Suite 3 (you can find it for around $8 and it includes Recode2 and BurningROM among others) for excellent reauthoring capabilities and also a burning engine with booktyping capabilities.

edit: BTW, both allow you to burn to/from HD as well as disc copy...

AnyDVD + CloneDVD 2 + Nero is all you need, Period. I agree with teflonmyk 100%. DVD XCopy? Had it's day, pretty much useless at this point. Personally speaking, I MOSTLY use CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD running to decrypt. I haven't seen a movie this won't back up yet. Point in fact. I backed Flight Plan up in 20 minutes, just the movie. Thet is from Start to Finished back up. 20 minutes. CloneDVD 2 copies to the HDD temporariliy during the back-up then to your burner. However, Yes you can select to burn to HDD too. Excellent software!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Cheers for the quick reply guys!

I know there's guides and I'll look into those, but in a few short sentences, can you tell me the process?

currently, when I find a DVD thats small enough to fit on one DVD I use DVD Xcopy (until my HDD crash of course!) all other's I'd simply use Xcopy Xpress. These were both, insert DVD to read, Swap out for blank and press burn & 40 or so minutes later - Job done, nice and simple.

From the sounds of it, With Any DVD and Clone DVD, I'm going to need to start Any DVD and then have clone DVD read the disc, then use Nero to burn the final DVD. Is that right?

If you guys can just give me a quick breakdown I'll understand and can evaluate.

Video Vault is looking very tempting, as I can then convert DVD's to my PDA and then to MP4 to play on my PSP or Ipod! and have my normal DVD backups too!

should I just stick to getting excellent DVD backups (via any dvd and clone dvd or 1 click DVD) and then using my backup to make AVI or DivX or MP4 from it?

Cheers fellas!
there's a pint or 10 in it if yer ever over in London!
