psp blank screen !!!!HELP!!!!!!

i have just got a psp from a friend of a friend. when it is turned on the green light comes on as normal. the screen stays blank with no power to it and then after bout 15 seconds the green light goes out. While it is on i have tried puting a umd in it.i really dont have a clue what has happened to it. Has this happened to anyone else? How do i fix it if i can?? Please help

go to argos (if in uk)
or
bestbuy (if in us)

buy a new psp

then swap it with yours

take it back and say it didnt work when you got it home
