I just inserted a game called pq into the psp but it says that i must upgrade to a version 2.5. I am currently running a 1.5 and don't want to upgrade past the 2.0 version because i still want to play the homebrews. Is ther any way around this.

No. Just upgrade your psp to v2.00 and play your games. Until you get tired of them then downgrade it back to v1.50.

I think I misunderstood what you said. Can I Play games that are saying I need to upgrade to a 2.5 on a version 2.0.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood you. I think yes. I have played some games like GTA and Socom on v2.00.

How did you play these games. Did you simply insert the UMD and they played or is there some trick to it. I thaught the last time I tried to play my friend's socoom game it asked to upgrade to a 2.5 just like the game I am trying now (PQ). I upgraded to the ver. 2.0 but it still asks for the 2.5 update. Please help if help can be given.
