So exactly how fast should I burn 16X media. just go a 50pk of Verbatims and 100pk of Riteks. Ive heard that 16x discs should be burnt at 8x and burning it at lower speeds produces coasters. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all that reply

stick w/ 8x and go from there...try one at 12x and see the results after a scan...then compare for yourself~ :) i personally stick with 8x on 16x rated discs, but that's just me

It also depends on your burner.

Those 16x plus format verbs do scan better at 8x and 12x.
4x scans are slightly worse,and 2.4x causes too many errors using my benq 1640. Now my benq 1620s have some very good scans at the 4x speed on those same verbs.

I go along with kivory. I burn half of what the media speed is rated.

my YUDEN000T03s are on their way (supposedly) i've been buggin TY about it for like a month now...guess i'm not on their VIP list yet...the key word is YET :)
