First of all thank you for your time. I'm a a newbie here, I just got my slim ps2 modded with the infinity 1.54 chip. I did this before I set-up anything to go online. Now, I've read how to disable the chip so that you can go online with real games. I do this, but I've also read that once disabled, the ps2 won't be able to read copies. It does, I disable it, and when i load a copied game, it still comes on. I have been trying to set up my ps2 to go online with the disk that came with it, but since it's modded i get that 402 error. I just want to play my original madden 2006 online. I don't know what to do, can anyone help? thank u

firstly, the "Infinity 1.54" chip could be a clone of the Matrix Infinity, unless u know its the real thing. Could either be a Modbo or NH chip.

If its the real Matrix Infinity, going online shouldnt be a problem. Just follow the steps on the website to toggle ON/OFF.

For the clone chips, it should be the same case too, since they copied the software too. However, a clone may not work as well, since not as high quality.

You might want to try the configuration menu . on the Browser Screen, press square+triangle if i can remember correctly. anyways for most chips, to turn it off press reset till the blue screen comes on. thats like 3-5 secs.

You may have a clone. All the clone chips run off MI Firmware v. 1.54 and are not upgradable via flash. Any attempt to flash the chip with newer MI firmware will fry it, a little present from the Matrix Team to all those wannabe's. aaur4 is correct about bringing up the firmware menu, you hit triangle+circle to do so. To disable the Infinity, simply hold start at boot up until the "disabled" screen appears and press reset. To reactivte the chip, simply turn the PS2 power switch off then back on.

That's what it's supposed to do when you disable the chip. The MI doesn't boot backups when it's disabled. Renable it to boot backups. To reenable the MI, you turn the PS2 off and back on.

Thank you for all the help. My chip must be a clone then, cause, even though it says disabled, it still plays copies after just pressing reset. I did not know about cloned chips. Now i know i can't go online. But thanks a lot for your time.

Well you can still go online with your backups. Disabling the chip will only allow you to go online with origianls. To go online with your backups, patch the DNA ID's.

20. Q. What are DNA's?
A. Any game made after 2003 for the PS2 that is online playable contains one or more image files that has a "disk
DNA checker." The online game server checks your game disk to see if it's the real thing or not. Thus, you have to discover which .img file on the game disc has the checker file.
