Yes, I know there are a lot of posts about good or bad dvd media here...Uff! I´ve read a lot.
But I want you to give your opinion about these dvd media brands:
LG, Samsung, Melody.

I'm going to say they are not good. I've never heard of two of them and Samsung is considered 3rd class: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Have you ran dvdidentifier on them to see who the manufactuer code is?

@ellegrand
Those Samgsung are made by Optodisc - not one of the better ones. May work - may not - make sure your firmware is up to date - the last one is
DL04. Here's a link:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2124.
I would also keep the burn speed to 4x or lower on these.
Can you id the other 2 also and post the results or at least the manfucturer id? Melody can be made by some awful manufacturers like CMC & Princo. LG also uses CMC but also can be made by Ritek which is good.

For the quality stuff look for made in Japan Fuji or Sony's or verbatim in store. If in the US http://supermediastore.com for the best - Taiyo Yuden.

ellegrand - the manufactuer id is OPTODISC which is considered the lowest grade: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I'm not sure where you live, but if you live in the states, you can easily find TY's (under other brand names) or Verbatim's for $14.99 a 50 pack. Those two are top of the line media.

Now don't get me wrong. You can probably get those optodisc to burn, and you could probably get some to play. However the key to remember is longevity. If you want to be able to watch it 2 years from now, those optodisc will freeze, skip, etc. if they even play at all.

For the LG's their INFODISC, a little better than the other two you are using, but I still wouldn't recommend it for long time storage. Still have never heard of the Melody brand or manufactuer. With everything you have shown you should get the best results with the LG, but I wouldn't recommend any of them. Especially for long term use. They will begin skipping, freezing, etc. within 2 years. I have some that are 18 months old that were great when I first burned them and now skip and freeze. The higher end media has seemed to be holding up a lot better. I have a MCC (Verbatim) that still scans at a 94 and is 16 months old.

Here's what I recommend: Try to find Verbatim's or TY's at a reasonable price and use your media you currently have for short term storage.

From those id's i'm with beltline. None of the manufacturers are any good. Burn at 4x or lower if you do use these. I won't be suprised if you get burn errors with these.
If you in the us here's a good site to buy genuine taiyo yuden and verbatim:

i believe i posted a long time ago about each of those 3 brands, too lazy to look it up myself, but both beltline and binkie summed it up quite nicely :)

in terms of which "class" they are in...eh, digitalfaq is FAIRLY accurate this time around...but, as i've mentioned many times...use digitalfaq as ONLY A GUIDE, they are NOT the authority on media...

all 3 of the aforementioned medias that you have use POOR quality manufacturers, you could DEFINITELY do a lot better for little or no price increase per disc...

check my sig. for detailed suggestions~
