Unable to playback *.wmv file

When i try to playback any wmv file using Media Player classic ver 6.4.5.7, I get a message 'failed to render file'.
How can I fix this plse?

Works fine here, although I am running a CVS build, so newer than 6.4.5.7. Doubt it is MPC though. Do you have MS' WMV codecs installed?

Well if you have WMV DMO decoder, etc., then they are installed.
