I'm installing my modchip right now (No Solder for v7) and I'm having a bit of trouble. I inserted the middle ribbon cable into the chip after some time, but I can't seem to put the other one in. The cable still works (if I apply enough pressure I can use the eject button, but otherwise it keeps popping out or staying in weakly) and I noticed that the blue (top) part of the cable is coming off a bit (it's only connected by less than 1/2 of what it originally was). My question is, if that blue part fell off, would the cable still work? If it would, then I could just take it off so it would go in easier. Which leads me to another question if the answer to the first one is no: Could I run my hands onto some butter (just to make them a bit oily/slippery) and apply that to the cable so then I could gently slide it in? If not, why? If not, then what could I do?

Surely SOMEBODY has installed this chip. Any comments OTHER than stuff like "get a better modchip" or "that modchip sucks" would be appreciated.

First of all, the brand of the modchip would be usefull information.

Second, since you're a member, you should know by now that it can take up to a day for someone with the proper knowledge to respond, because of time zone differences, etc.

Forget it. The end of my ribbon cable just broke off. It's useless UNLESS is there a way to cut (or repair) a dvd eject tray ribbon cable (5 pin, the skinniest one) by myself? If not, then I'm screwed because my dad said if I break my PS2 because of the modchip then I can't even reapir it or get a new one. My only choice is using the swap trick.

If you really want to know, its the PNP Key (the newest one).
