I have a HP dvd writer 300c. Don't know who makes this burner. I use Nero Recode 2 to burn, but have no options under more when in the burn page to booktype it to Dvd-Rom. Can't in Nero Burning Rom neither.
But when using dvd identifer & dvdinfo, both show as booktyped at
Dvd-Rom. I only use verbatim's & ty's. The best there is.
I know about decrypter being able to booktype, but don't think none of the burners it shows is the one I have.
Just wondered why all the Dvd+r's I have show them as Dvd-Rom?
Have had no problems playing on my 2 dvd players & they also play just fine in my daughters dvd players also.
Think IIRC, a number of HP 300 series have a factory set booktype.
automatically setting your +R to DVD-ROM.
*edit,
on checking found this maybe worth a read (factory setting)

Booktyping to DVD-ROM is good for compatibility in older dvd players it fools the dvd player into thinking it is a DVD-ROM in the drive (though a true 'PRESSED' DVD-ROM and a booktyped one (DVD+R/+DL set to fool the dvd player to read as a DVD-ROM, are quite different. Often DVD+R media's performance is poor in older player and older PS2, booktyping circumnavigates this)
Newer dvd players don't require booktyping and its been my experience that top quality DVD-R has worked at least as good in older player as my booktyped media.
You won't go wrong with your present setup on good media.
You're definitely one lucky jr newbie afterall and you should be happy with that (your HP automatically book typed any DVD+R into DVD-ROM). Unlike some of the other members must have a hacked firmware or other alternatives to set the book type into DVD-ROM, some members can't even book type any DVD+R due to the burners/model/brand etc.
My DRU710A a rebadged SOHW 1633S will automatically book type any DVD+R, DVD+R DL and DVD+RW whenever I burned with Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom, Nero Recode or Nero Vision.
Yes, DVD-ROM is the best, most compatible format on the planet at this very moment. Hence, all original dvd movies and PS2 games are pressed as DVD-ROM.

Thanks everybody for the reply back. Very glad to here my burner automaticaly booktypes this way. I have learned a lot on these forums.
Best place to go to get help. I've only burned about 300 dvd's, but not 1 coaster so far. Only use the best, verb's & ty's.
