You will lose quality, that cannot be avoided. However you may find the quality loss is not that bad. If the originals are pretty good you should come out with some decent mpg's.

I downloaded a film from p2p site.it is Divx .avi file. I would like to keep that film on cd (not on HD) as I need space. If I copy it as ordinary file, would I be able to wach it from my computer cd or dvd-rom drive same as my dvd movies?
Is it worth, qualitywise, to convert it in SVCD just to be able to wach it on TV screen?
Thanks in advance for your answers and effort!

Since this is closely related to my case...I ripped a DVD (Biker Boyz) into MPEG format (for VCD) but it's too big a file size. What can I do to at least burn it onto a data CD? I really like using DivX format but don't know how to convert or if this would solve the problem. If anyone know how to do this, please HELP!

I usually like just one CD, more comfortable...The movie is about an hour and 50 minutes long and the file I have is 1,133,152 KB.

The filesize is perfectly right yes but to transcode that to fit on one cd-r now that is a night mare man! You would even get terrible quality on playback. Perhaps on your next encoding you could try KVCD, http://www.kvcd.net

Aw man! I returned the DVD today! What luck...thanks though. What should I download from KVCD? I might be able to get the DVD again (probably rent it again). Is there any way to fit it on 1 CD with good quality?

Ah here come on, easy on the piracy man! On the kvcd website what you are looking for are KVCD templates that work with TMPGEnc! All you have to do is put them in the same folder i believe then click file - project wizard and you should see kvcd listed!

Is there a specific template to download (from the downloads page) or they all do fine?
