On a third gen iPod - No, you cannot. iPodlinux have developed hacks which give possible playback capabilities, but installing that voids your warranty, and with no guarantee of success. I recommend either settling with your 3rd gen iPod, or getting proper 5g iPod.
I'll give you a tip, take your ipod back to where you bought it from.I once owned an 5g ipod, but when i discovered my movies didnt go on it i was gutted and took it back to the shop where i bought it from.I tried to convert my files into mpeg4 but it was really complicated. By the time you've finished the conversion process you'll be in 2015!Its not worth the hassile, and lets be honest not many people have 30gb of music.I recently bought the cowon a2 instead and i'm really impressed you dont have to covert any videos just plugged the cowon in youre pc and youre away.It has countless other features like recording, av out, radio etc.I
really recommend this option.
well chapsta, i can see from your various posts that you are just plain stupid. Everyone is allowed to have there own opinions, and most of the world obviously don't agree with your statement that they should just take there ipods back to where they bought them from. In your post, you've used words that I never knew existed such as "hassile". by most it would be mistaken for a simple typo, but in your case I think the problem lies deeper than a simple spelling mistake... You say you tried to convert your videos which were in various formats probably DivX and mpeg. as those are the norm for p2p users( which i suspect you are). To do that you'd have needed a special conversion programme. They really shouldn't have let someone like you own an ipod... and what do mean: not many people have 30gb worth of music? you may not have but alot of other people do! by the by YOUR never had an E on the end. I wouldn't boast about the cowon A2. I've heard bad things about it. No removable battery! come on.

Oh that is just Priceless! There is nothing remotely complicated about transcoding videos. You just couldn't be bothered to find out how to do it properly. That is your problem. It is no reason to dissuade people from purchasing the iPod Video!
