Could be it can't handle the copy protection. Which movie are you doing? Or your using too many system resources - shrink is pretty cpu intensive so no multi tasking. Or you have a registry conflict.
If it's one it can't handle rip with dvdfab decrypter first then process thru shrink as usual.

the movie has copy protection, but this why I'm using DVD Shrink in order to make a copy of it.
Now it could be because of other programs running. What prgrams do you suggest that I close? antivirus?

Shrink probaby can't handle the copy protection on this movie. Which movie are you doing? Let's start with that and hopefully we can resolve it. If not we can try a few other things.

DVDshrink is no longer updated and will not be in the future, because of this it can't backup some of the new movie releases because of the new copy protection being placed on them by Sony or Microvision.

DVDfab was suggested because it is updated to handle the new copy protection, it's very easy to use and works quite well. The current version beta version is available here:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=164364

You can still use DVDshrink, but it's going to need some help in cracking the encryption placed on the DVD, the help comes from anydvd. Anydvd is a driver that once installed runs silently in the backround making the dvd appear un-encrypted (or protection free), install it then use shrink as you normally would. It comes with a 21 day free trial before you have to buy it.

Check it out here:

Edit: if you have plenty of memory(512MB-1GB) and a decent processor (2GHZ and up), backround services running should not be an issue.

Download fab decrypter with the link john123 gave. This will just rip the movie to your hard drive. You will then open the video_ts in shrink and process.
I'm thinking if your os is win2k your using an older pc maybe? What are your specs? While your doing a movie I would do nothing else on the pc like the net etc. Your anitvirus is okay unless it's a resource hog like norton system works and you don't have the specs john123 gave.
