Quicktime 7.0? uninstall

I'm close to trashing the registry(or anything that says apple or quicktime or similar). I have unstalled quicktime; it is not in the add /remove program listing; it is not in the registry (from what I can tell - all keys that had references to "quicktime" have been removed); and it is not in the program files directory. I have also run microsofts windows install cleanup.

But when attempting to install 7.04, I get the following error:

error 1605 - this action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

I cannot remember exactly what the previous version was (it was 7.0?), but has anyone else had this problem.
