When it really comes down to it is there really a visual difference in backing up a movie on a Single vs a Dual Layer disc?

Also anyone hear about these new Tri Layer drives?

What are these as I saw an advertisement with this...

Yes, there is a difference between 'backups' made with SL and 'backups' made with DL discs ...

Just how great the difference depends on how large the orifinal was (how much compression was required to fit it on a SL disc) .. Also, if you're watching it on a small Tv you will not notice as mush difference as you would on a big screen ...

catfreak, that is kind of what I thought. I have a new 50" Sony and have not seen a tremendous amount of difference, could be possibly that I have an untrained eye or perhaps I have not compressed a truly large movie.....

Have you heard anything about these new Tri Layer burners...

I depends on how much compression you use when making the backup and how well the original dvd was encoded.
