hi all!!

i got a samsung 120GB hdd for my ps2 and it has a 2MB cache. i would just like to know what the difference between 2 MB and all the higher MB caches (like 8MB) is.

the difference is 6 MB between the 2 and 8 :)

more cache gives the drive a larger buffer so it doesn't slow data transfer as it seeks to different places on the drive.

not necessaraly but it could depending on the game in question and how often it has to seek out new data from different disk locations. games such as Grand Theft Auto are continuiously seeking so these type games may be slowed but still faster then off the CD/DVD drive.

so, (sorry for the n00bish questions) i know that loading a game off the harddrive is supposed to give u 2-4x faster loading times. and will the low 2MB cache affect this. (again, sry for the sad questions.)

yes it will slow it some, but again depending on the game it may be more or less noticeable. i wouldn't get another drive just because of this.

during high speed driving you may notice a slight glitch once in a great while in areas of high detail/motion/changes.
