It does. I recently bought a new lap top with out mcafee or norotn and stuff. It runs so much faster with out anti virus shit. You guys should uninstall yours and see the diffrence.

it slows it because it is doing its job, scanning all files as they are accessed/downloade/etc...

the time it saves by reducing infections that cause data loss is well worth the speed losses, if yours is to slow with the software running get a dual Xeon with couple gig of DDR.

anyway you could always just boot into safe mode and check the speed.
