When you burn a Gamecube game, will a PC DVD Burner recognize any data on the disc? Mine cant read the data, so im wondering if its a bad burn, or it is suppost to be like that.

its supposed to be like that. That's why I keep all the games I backup on my HD, cuz if they turn out to be bad burns, then I'll have to re-copy my games all over again. Once you burn the image, it's basically a gamecube duplicate, and you can't read the data on a gamecube game either

I see. I havent put a mod in my Gamecube yet, so I had no way of testing it.

that makes a lot of sense, we're just making a backup of the gc disc.

the way the computer interprets any compatible disc (for instance dvdrom, cdrom) is different from how a gc does it.

I think the toc is located somewhere else other than the very center of the disc where computers usually find it. am I right?

as for the gc, the laser reads inward, from the circumference of the disc (I tried playing with the case open, reason for knowing)
is that how dvd players work as well?

thanks for any advice.

I just tried burning an iso on dvd. after the burn the computer will still not recognize the disc. however, if I look at sector by sector, I see data such as the name of the game in the header and so on.

so to conclude, by burning you are making a backup of the game, in order to make another duplicate, you have to stream the game again, even with a duplicated copy.

so keep the isos just in case, to make life easier.

Yup, that's exactly why I keep all the isos, just in case, ya never know!
