I'm gonna order several types of blanks from Supermediastore to see which is the best print qaulity. I have been using Maxells from Walmart, mostly because I haven't had a credit card to order online. The surface of the Maxells are rougher than Memosux, but the Memosux do have the Maxells beat for print qaulity only. They are smoother.
My question is for you guys that may have tried several different types of protective sprays with one or more brands. I read on here that the white Taiyos and the Verbatims are more of a matte surface, while the Pro-Disc are more glossy. I tried the Krylon fixative spray on the Maxells and it worked very good...no smudges, fingerprints, and it's even water proof too. However, I want a glossy surface blank to spray the fixative on. Will I have to do trial and error to get the right combination? What dvd/spray combo is the best for you?

I use Verbs and let them dry for 24 hours. Seems to be ok to me they do not smudge. But after printing and letting them dry, what does this Patricia Nomick's stuff do? Does it go on smooth? Does it dry quickly? It won't affect Play back? And of course I'm asuming it's there to just protect the print?
Also is it easy to put on and how long do you need to let it dry?

I too am curious about how different sprays react to different brands of blanks. I can tell you this...the Krylon fixative spray I bought at Michaels Art store worked extremely well on the printable Maxells I've been getting at Wal-Mart. You see, printable discs will smear and retain fingerprints if you don't protect them...there's no getting around it. Try rubbing one harder and you'll see the ink on your fingers. Heck, I even wet my fingertips and this spray kept the disc from running! The Memorex/sux blanks didn't take the Krylon spray as good and has a haze/spots. Maybe this is because they have a smoother surface??? Anyway, I'm gonna order some Taiyos, Verbs, Pro-Disc, and Riteks and try them all.
Oh I forgot...if you take an empty CD case and spray the disc while it's sitting in it, you will avoid getting any on the readable bottom side. Put a small piece of paper towel underneath the disc and it will conform to case. I tested my disc and it plays fine after drying...which took less than 15 mins.

It takes a couple of times to get the technique perfected (ie, smoooth coat, no "orange peel" effect). I place my printed disc on the clear protective disc usually found on the top and bottom of the spindle, and I spray a very light coat (about 8 inches from disc) from left to right then top to bottom. I usually let the disc(s) air dry overnight (about 6 hours). I've never handled them any sooner than that, so I don't know how little time is actually required...

No adverse effects to date, and I have done over 500 discs (TY, Verbs, and Maxell).
Do your disks come out completely smooth? You said it takes a couple of time to get the technique perfected. The first disk looks OK, but if you look at it under the light it does have a small bit of an orange peel effect to it and a little heavy in one spot. I'm not sure I like it but I'l try a few more times,
