I have just purchased a receiver to set up surround sound. I have a TV, a DVD-Recorder and a DVD player. Right now the DVD player is hooked to the DVD recorder and in order to use it I select the AV1 input on the DVD-Recorder. When I hook up the receiver ? the TV & DVD recorder get plugged into the receiver. Does the 2nd DVD player also need to be hooked up directly to the receiver or will it work with surround sound by hooking the Recorder to the receiver and setting the receiver?s input to the recorder and then the recorder?s input to the 2nd DVD player? Does the DVD-recorder still need to be connected to the TV? Is this through the yellow video cord? Last question?the subwoofer is not magnetically shielded, how far from the TV does it need to be? Thanks so much, I need all the help I can get.

The best way to connect your equipment is directly to your receiver your dvd player that is connected to the dvr will not record on to your dvr as dvds are copy protected so it is best to connect to the receiver in order to get dolby digital souround sound reguires a optical or coax cable conected from dvd player to your receiver as far as your sub woofer if you see color distortion on your tv then move the woofer
