hello all,
i tried to do a softmod with auto installer deluxe using the 007 gamesave, everything went according to plan, i created a ms and mod back up on the xbox hard drive as the tutorial suggested, on the menu of the evox dash the ms dashboard was not getting highlighted, so i installed the patch file, xbox said it had been installed did a backup, unfortunately for me the tutorial said once patch has been installed then you have to install the game back into xbox and do steps 3,4,5,6 after this i was getting the same result ms dash was not getting highlighted so here it where things start getting F*****D up, i think i did steps 3,4,5,6 and patching about 4/5 times still nothing and patch kept failling , so i decided to fire up the xbox without the game in and when it booted it starts up by trying to connect to xbox live, so again a couple of times i redid the turorial without any success, thinking i was a bright spark i went into ms dash memory and deleted the "ONLINE ADAPTER" in game saves, i eventually gave up and today this morning when i start up the console it just wants to access the net and nothing else,

i have no ftp access to the xbox, no back up on pc of eeprom,\also xbox will not play any games

and thats only the begining, i searched various xbox forums nand the usual suspects gave me there input suggesting whats the best thing to do..........eventually it was agreed to do a hotswap using xboxhdm and slayers incorporating slayers dash, once booted it will apparently unlock the xbox hard drive so i can rebuild the hard drive from scratch,

i made a xboxhdm disc, slapped it in the pc, set all the relevant ide cables to master etc...the disc boots up in the pc, my issue is once i connect the hard drive the xboxhdm program recognises the xbox hd (brings up the model number) and as it boots the xboxhdm disc i am constantly presented with error messages as it does a partition check, it does this twice (the erros) it then continues to boot the tool and type in "xboxhd" as requested and then displays and message saying :-

INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO INFO

this script assumes /dev/hda is the device to be used
for creating or rescuing an xbox harddrive
No disc drive found on /dev/hda (primary master)

shotdown, connect a drive and reboot

i am constantly getting this message no matter what method of hotswap i do, i take the dvdrom out and hotswap same thing, wait for the blubber to stop then hotswap, in fact i have swapped that many times my ide cabl for the xbox and pc are now very well worn in ! and i still can't get the damn thing to work,

can someone please help, thanks in advance and sorry for the jackanory
cheers

try to switch the jumpers on the harddrive and make sure you are booting off the disk and not the hard drive
