a couple questions about installing a modchip. actually, i am right in the middle of installing A DMS4 Lite. so if i fail to install it properly, will i boch my whole ps2, or can i go back and fix the soldering problems if the chip does not work the first time? also, i am pretty sure it does, but does it matter if you have solder connecting the pins (in the ps2)?
Thanks, anyone who will listen
there are certain points in the PS2 mobo which goes directly with the powerup/earth so at times putting the modchip in a wrongway might blow your ps2's fuse off.
how can i insure the accuracy of this? i am uncertain of a few things, like what i need. what i have right now is a 15-watt soldering tool from radio shack, .022 rosin core silver-bearing solder, and a magnifying glass. although my hand doth shake, i don't think i ruined it yet. one more thing: is there an easier way to get the solder to stick to the ps2's board? because i am having a hard time with that. well i'll stop before i start rambling. thanks, anyone who is listening. the help is greatly appreciated.
Hold the wire at the point where its to be solderd with a drop of needle point liquid adhesive ....dip your solderin iron's tip in the soldering gum for making it heat uniformly and be free of previous iron fillaments... take the soldering wire and the iron to the point where u suppzd to solder ...make the 3 surfaces (mobo..solder wire..new wire of modchip) come in contact nd keep it for around 2secs....the method is..u shudnt melt the iron wire to re-solder on the point...it might actually block off your wire from being in contact with the mobo point properly..so your job wud be to dab the heated iron tip on the point where its suppzd to be solderd..so a bit of existing solder iron in the mobo melts out and when it freezes back it claches on the new wire too.
Things to take care of ---
1>>too hot a solder iron might damage yor mobo...turn the soldering iron's power off at times...
2>>too less solder iron (wire) supplied to the point of solder wud damage the mobo.
3>>put on some music and keep your cool while u r working at it...make sure u dont touch any other part of yor mobo with yor soldering iron..and no liquid wire drops in any part of the mobo either..can damage your circuit.
