Sony HC19E and LG RH7500 DVD Recorder

Just purchased LG RH7500 DVD Recorder. Connected Sony HC19E camcorder to it using a 1394 Firewire. On the DV input channel screen on the DVD recorder the message "Updating the Information" appears on a band at the bottom of the screen. There is no picture and the message just remains. How do I get a picture and sound ?
