I have separated my question into discrete pieces so I'd be happy if you give an answer to each of my questions instead of giving answers of general nature.
1. Do HDMI DVD players make the audio decoding process (decodind dolby digital or DTS) inside the DVD player or do they transmit the audio to the A/V player as it is?
2. As far as I know the answer to the question above is "yes the HDMI DVD player alone decodes the audio since the signal transmitted via HDMI must be uncompressed" but I still am asking it because I'm not sure if this is true. Well if indeed that's the case , why the hell do I need my A/V receiver to support DTS or Dolby Digital? Every receiver would accept uncompressed audio.
