hi all. i have a slimline (scph-70003) and i have a problem, the laser
the spin motor and the laser movement motor are all dead. it has not been dropped and is not chipped , can any one HELP :-(
What do you have in there? A chip? Swap Magic? Did you try playing a regular game and not a backup with the lid closed? My swap magic had a few problems where it wasn't reading discs but when I took the SM out and closed the lid, it read discs fine.

the model you have appears to be a PAL V13
sounds like it could be pretty new. If it is and you have not modded it in any way i would call Sony and see about having them fix or replace it. If it will not play any original discs, and they do not spin or load then there is a real problem with it.
I thought that they had fixed the laser problem after the V12, at least that is what everyone said. But you could have still got a bad PSTwo so i would call Sony ASAP.
hi, yes it is a PAL v13, i brought it from ebay in is so called good working order!! and the guy said it was working when he posted it,i can smell (b.s)and it had been opening . so i can not send it back to sony, so i have opening it up to see what the broblem was it was the start/Reset lid switch , i have now got all the motors to work but it still will not read any games yet, i do not get a disk read error and a have try cleaning it. is there any way i can adjust the laser on slimlines?. and i am starting think i need a new laser , and if and when i fix it what is a good mod chip to put in? i fitted messaih chips in the old one , but stopped doing it some time ago when even one started buying xboxes so i started on them........
