I have browsed the net and this site and haven't found a straight answer to this: I am wanting to backup VHS videos to DVD. I can't do it even with a black box in between machines. I am looking to get an adapter or card to input the VHS signal. Can Shrink actually do the rest?

Another question: Is it true that burning DVDs on your PC will somehow damage the original DVD causing it to skip? I've haven't burnt a rented DVD, but understand that the larger video stores have the means to quickly check a DVD to see if it has been burnt and, if so, make you buy the DVD.

ricdog,
Welcome to the forum. If these are commercial VHS Tapes then you will need a Mod box that goes between the VCR and the capture card. If these are homemade VHS tapes then you you use the out video and audio on the camera to the in video and audio on the capture card. Shrink can not capture but Nero can and if you have a capture card then that card should have a program on it to capture w/.

You 2nd question made me laugh. Burning a DVD will not damage the original and the store will not know that you copied it. This is one of the myths that are floating around the net
