The best programs to u for backing up DVD's are:
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
DVD43(Removes Copyright)
All the Above are free. There are better programs that do a good job and even better job like:
CloneDVD
AnyDVD
But the cost, take your pick.

I get a copy that looks like it burned perfectly, then it starts to freeze, Skip a bit and green artifacts pop up around the last few chapters of my DVD.
I dont get these errors with Shrink.

What are the best free programs out there to use?
DVDFAB Decrypter (best ripper at the moment, I rank it #1 in my book)
DVD Shrink (a FREE transcoder and a ripper for 90% or less for older movies, good for Noobs)
ImgBurn (a FREE burning engine, especially for ISO image file)
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 (still rip 95% and is likely to bypass anything if you know how to use PSL2 plugin, also a burning engine for ISO Image)

Borhan,
I meant free programs. Not the trials. I mean yea, it is a good program but I mean the programs where you don't ever have to pay.

@bizkit
As borhan suggested slow down your burn speed, also use Deep Analysis and the AEC controls if the compression is high( this can cause the artifacts, freezing, and pausing you are experiencing) and set your target size to 4300.

Ok i get you know, I allways just do everything with Shrink and then it points to Nero for the burning. I think the problem was the Burn speed, I just burned 3 episodes of 24 at 2x on CloneDVD and it came out fine. I guess i tend to forget the burnspeed because CLONE likes to automatically select the speed for you.
Ill probably test it out again with a different movie and play it on my DVD player to see how it turns out. Another reason why i wonder what CloneDVD does different is whenever i burn a DVD using Shrink and Nero it plays fine on my PS2 but when i burn it using CLONE it wont play on my ps2.

I can't give you any advice on Clone because I don't use it, the only burning programs that I use are Nero, DVD Decrypter and Imgburn. The only thing I could think of is that when you burn with Nero or directing shrink to burn with Nero, the disc is automatically booktyped for you. I don't know if CloneDVD will do this.

I had that same exact problem, plays fine, for about 20 min, that will stutter the screen then completly lock up. As it's stated about 150 times in the forums, I bought new media.
