I'm working on the same issue with AVI to DVD.

I'm actually in the middle of converting a file now. I'm using WinAVI Video Converter to change it to DVD format. A few times in the past this has only somewhat worked for me using the Cucusoft.......meaning it plays on my parents cheap DVD player but wouldn't play on my JVC or my brother Sony.

I've also been told the SLOWER you burn an AVI converted movie the better odds you have of it working.

I'll keep you posted.

Ok, so I TRIED to convert and burn an AVI movie as mentioned above but I still haven't got it to work.

I've tried different scources for AVI's and I know the file is good.

I converted with WinAVI Video Converter to DVD format. I then used NERO to burn at 2.4X.

The DVD won't play on my DVD player but if I put it in my computer it STARTS to PLAY but freezes after approx. 20 of playing. An error pops up saying unable to read. Disc my be dirty or scratched. This odviously isn't the case.

Any ideas?

I use to have a Comstar burner which broke TWICE within weeks of owning it so I now have a Sony 16X External DVD+/-RW Double Layer Drive (DRX810UL).

I don't get it. It looks fine in the preview when Nero is Encoding it. I've also tried running it through DVD Shrink soley for the analysing purpose, not shinking.
