I recently modded my Gamecube with the Qoob Pro chip and it came with the 1.3a bios. I already had burned seven backups to see if the modding worked and it turns out, it didn't. All seven backups (Ikaruga, Resident Evil 4, DBZ Budokai 2, Mario Power Tennis, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Paper Mario and Megaman X Collection) mess up right at the beginning. I see the bios loading up, it starts loading the games, and I get to see a screen or two of company logos and stuff, but when the game tries to load something else, it just freezes. I don't get a message that says DRE or anything. I only got an error message ONCE with Resident Evil 4 (backup) a few minutes after the game started trying to load the inicial game. And that's all. I have a Samsung TS-H552U drive with US07 firmware (not hacked) and I recorded all those images with Nero 7 (burnt at 2x and all were finalized), except for Ikaruga, which was burnt with IMGWrite (tried forcing 1x burn but it only went at 2x). I have been using DotCom minis which were identified as OPTODISCR004 and have a pink and white label on the top, whith a big "M" drawn on them. I wanted to know what the hell was going on and I also wanted to know how I could update the BIOS by burning it on the disc, sicnce I don't have the USB cable... Please, someone help me out, I got so darn frustrated after beeing so excited with my brand new modding, thinking everything was going to be perfect. Oh, and one more detail: the guy who did the modding said he already adjusted the pot, but I don't have the ACTUAL number with me. He just said he adjusted it. Well, I think that's all. Please, help me out, I'm desperate.

Who did you get to mod it? Just some guy you know?

If anything, the guy that modded it should've given you a USB cable since anytime you purchase a Qoob Pro it will come with one.

Also, Nero 7 has been reported to work poorly with GC iso files, so you'll need to use an earlier version of Nero such as Nero 6.

Also, don't force the write speed, only use what's supported. If you force it, you're pretty much begging for a coaster. I tried looking up the dvds you used, and the ones I found were rated at 4x, so just burn at 4x for best results.

If you want to update the BIOS, you can check out the guide on modthatcube to create a bootable disc. However, since you're using Nero 7, that probably wouldn't help you too much. Qoob BIOS 1.3a should work fine anyway, since there are quite a few people that prefer it over the 1.3c BIOS.

I had my gamecube modded at a game store, downtown. So, I guess the guy is kinda reliable, since he has already modded a few gamecubes. Although he didn't give me the USB cable. Crap, I guess I'll try to contact him again about this, but I think it's really unlikely that he's going to have the Mini USB cable lying around, waiting for me.. Hahahaha.... And about the Mini DVDs, I know they're marked as 4x, but nero and IMGBurn could only burn them at 2x (in Nero, I couldn't select 4x, only 2x was available). But I WAS in fact able to burn the BIOS onto a Mini DVD and uptate it to 1.3c. The problem is that my seven discs still can't be totally read - they hang at the very beginning (and when I set the DRE walkarounds to "off" or "5x" I get a DRE message). On the disc I had burned the BIOS (I filled it up with MP3s as trash files), I ended up also burning a couple of snes roms, transformed to .DOL by s9inject, and they wouldn't run - I got a DRE. But I only put in the rom files (.dol) on the disc, I didn't put any other files that had any kind of relation to the roms. Should I have put the s9xinject files in there? And about the pot, I don't really know how to adjust the pot, and I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about electronics (the only thing I know is that U=R*i hahahahaha) so I'm not that confident about adjusting it by myself.
And I'm expecting a shipment with a couple of WORKING games tomorrow, so I can test if the problem here is my burner/media or if it is my cube. I'll post the answer to that as soon as I get my hands on the games.
Ok, there's the update on Phil's cube. Please, help him with his pickle (I mean problem - it's a metaphore. Please don't help me with my pickle, I'm very self conscious) HAHAHAHAHA...
Thanks a lot for your help guys, really. I hope I can be playing games by tomorrow night!

Well, just passing by to report that I got a couple of backups burnt on Ridata media (not burnt by me) and the cube is working fine... Guess the problem was my burner and my medias... But everything was solved, though! Thanks everyone!
