Dvd Decryptor will not fully read dvd mercanaries disc with out stopping at 35%. Is there a way around this or different program other than dvd decryptor to make image so i can rebuild game. Thanks!

You shouldn't need to rebuild the game with a modchip. I burned my copy to 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's (TYG02) and it plays perfectly. What's the Media ID of the discs you're using? You could try using Alcohol 120% to rip the game. It might take awhile, but it'll finish.

88. Q. How do I burn PS2 DVD games with Alcohol 120%?
A. Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:
1. Insert your disc.
2. Open Alcohol 120%.
3. Click Image Making Wizard.
4. Check Ignore read errors, select your recorder, leave the never seperate box alone.
5. Click Next. Select a destination for the game. Click Start.
Once the process is complete, you'll get an mds and an mdf file. Click finish, if necessary.

Burning the game to DVD:
1. Insert your blank disc.
2. Right click the mdf file.
3. Select Image Burning Wizard.
4. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x.
5. Click next.

hmmm... but if a disc has a scratch or read error..how can Alcohol fix it ? Dr Disc sometimes comes in handy though.

It doesn't fix the disc, it creates a usable image in spite of the scratches. Try it or not, I don't care.

Let it go. That's normal for a scratched disc. It'll finish. There's only been one game that I couldn't get a usable iso file from.

Not necessarily. If your firmware is up to date you're using quality media, 4x should be fine. But everybody's burner is different, if you're getting better results burning at 2.4x, then go ahead.

Thanks for you everyone's reply. I used nero to create image and used instruction to rebuild Mercenaries and it worked. Now my problem comes with red dead revolver, which will not load after you try to start a story or showdown. I tried rebuilding it too and get same response. Any suggestions.

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. Think I'll try Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R. My DVD+RW by memorex burns at 2.4, is that ok for this type of media?

Oh you're using DVD+RW's? That's the issue. DVD+/-RW's don't work well with the PS2, and they put terrible strain on the laser. Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R's (TYG02) should work great. That's all I use for PS2 backups.

I meant my drive is a dvd+rw drive which record at 2.4x. I used TKO 8x DVD+R. I used dvd+rw too and for some reason they seemed to work better than dvd+r.

I hope Memorex Burners are better than Memorex Media. Quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim should resolve the issue.
