I'm not sure this problem is specifically related to The Fog, but I thought I'd share my experience and see if anyone can relate. I burned The Fog using 321/ xcopy gold w/ Anydvd in the background. The movie burned w/o any problem, but when I tried to play it, it freezes every few minutes. I tried burning another copy and got the same thing. I'm not running any spyware in the background. I'm using a memorex 16x burner w/ 16x memorex discs. Is there a better burner or discs to use to prevent skips and freezes? I usually don't have any problems but everyone once in a while I'll get a movie that frequently freezes.

I don't know about your burner but get rid of those memosux disks. They have a bad reputation on this site. I did this movie with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD running in the background and burned on Maxell DVD+R, came out perfect.

I was so ugly when I was a kid, my parents used to take me everywhere just so they wouldn't have to kiss me goodbye.

What type of burner are you using? Normally I have no problems with these discs. Are Maxell's better?

Yeah, they have a bad reputation everywhere.

With media like that, and pretty much every other type, you shouldn't be burning at 16x. Try for 4x. I wouldn't trust Memorex at 8x. I wouldn't trust Memorex at all lol.

What type of burner do you have? You may need a firmware upgrade.

If I had to guess though, I'd bet it's the discs. But if you insist that these discs work, then maybe it is the burner.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, when I first started burning, I used any media I can get my hands on, and needless to say, that was a mistake.

@charger16

I have a nec 1300A burner and burn at 4x. i get my maxell at Walmart in the 50 cake box. They have been made by Ritek lately. I have been using them for 2 years and found one bad box in all that time. I use dvddecrypter to burn.

I think it must have been dvd xcopy. I used CloneDVD 2 and had no problems.

I have Xcopy gold and even with AnyDVD in the background you will have problems with the program it really does not interface with AnyDVD well due to its age. You would be better off using Clone for any of the newer protected movies, also you don't have the PITA nag screen.

charger16,
You have been given good advice regarding those disks. The software you are using could definately be a factor of your issues, but I think at this point it is the media. Change them and your problem will magically disappear. Read up on the forums on the recommended media to use.
