New to the forum--thanks for any help in advance. I just purchased ty DVD-r 4x but they sent me x16. from reading these forums it seems that my burns should test out bestter than (nero discspeed) overall 77 and 214 ave pie's with 0.08 pif's. I'm burning at 4x because I have liteon 851s@832 (in fact I cant seem to switch to a lower speed like 2x. any suggestionson how to improve the burn?

goducks - after reading dilligaf9 thread link, than another thread link, than another thread link... It looks like there could be some caompatability issues with the Liteon

And again, the problems I specifically said would be likely, were with TYG03 discs on the LiteON 851s burner. You'll notice that Blankmedia.ca took my advice and amended their webpage in the last week, to mention the compatability issue:

I can't say the accuracy of this since I don't own the drive in question.

thanks guys! i just flashed my firmware last month with the 832s and "upgraded" my 851s. its CG5J version of fimware-- it seems to be working fine and acts like an 832s. I've tested 5-10 burns with these tyG03's and I get a consistent 77 overall quality(with almost exactly the same p errors that I stated in the first thread. I do have the value ty's but shouldnt I be able to score 93-97? can my firmware be out of date already? should I go back to the 851s firmware? Maybe I should send these ty's back and ask for the dvd-r 4x like I ordered--these are 16x. On my next order, I think I'll order some ty dvd+r 8x premium on the spindle from Rima--does anyone see ANY problems with these and my liteon 851s@832s burning dvds at 8x? because I would hate to buy another wierd exception to the rule that TY is awesome media--will supermedia take these tygo3's back?

goducks- keep the tygo3, they were pretty cheap 23.00 to 28.00 per 100. the return shipping will kill you 6.00 to 9.00... get some tygo2 in the premium line and try it with your burner and even pick up some verbatim or sony on sale and try those, maybe you have a touchy burner. You can also pickup another burner, the pioneer 110 is at 40.00. I know its another 40.00 50.00 bucks but that is what hobbies are about, spending money...
