Memory card Exploit on two PS2s

Hi all,
I just set up the memory card exploit on my flip top ps2, all works fine. I can load ELF files ok etc.

When I try and run the exploit in my other PS2 (everything else being identical) it boots PS2Menu, but it hangs before loading any of the contents of the memory card (i cant bring up any of the menus)
I'm running PS2Menu v 2.6.

Anyone know what could be going on/anything i can try to fix this? I dont have another memory card so reinstalling the exploit isnt an option.

does the exploit have some console specific boot information or something?

Any insights would be appreciated.
