HELP!!! Problem with Windows Media Player

When I go to play a song in my Window Media Player, I cant hear anything. It used to work PERFECTLY FINE before. But now it doesnt work right. When I play a song, any song it skips and I cabt hear anything. The time goes from like 1:25 then to 1:46 etc. It was fine before. Also this happened in my videos sections too. I cant hear anything and the video skips. I already check my speakers and I checked all of the volume on my computer. This just happened. I was just watching a movie I downloaded last week a few hours ago and it was fine. Now its all messed up. I thought if I downloaded the newer Windows Media Player version it would be fine bit it still dont work. Can someone please help me????
