several questions, but 1st the story: I have a vhs tape would like to connect it to my pc to burn it in vcd or dvd format (tapes r of different region number, as when I brought it from my country of origine it wont play it here in canada)
So:
1: how to I by pass it (the region)
2. will it still be viewable on my pc (when i connect it)
3. could i convert it & burn
4. how do I do that?(as from what i read from this other thread u need a connection cord or cards whichever) I have no camcorder, no cards and only program is nero and alcohol 120.
5. what do i need to connect it to my pc.

VHS tapes do not have a region code or anything. However, different parts of the world use different broadcasting systems: NTSC and PAL. So I guess your first question is how to play a PAL tape on an NTSC VCR (or the other way around). The answer: play it on a VCR that was designed for the system in which the tape was recorded. BTW: there are also multisystem VCR's that can play both.
hi tpfkas, yes the link was very helpful thx a lot. But NTSC & PAL doesn't it mean colour, the reason i ask that is because when i had this video I use to play around with the NTSC n PAL n one will have colour and one would be blk & wht whenu r playing a tape n viewing the pic on tv.????
Isn't there another way to bypass the analog card :p a prog of some sort.
and if i dont have a video who plays both or just PAL, will my computer still see the pic if i do connec it to my video???
and since i can't use a firewire as mine is a vhs tape with what im i going to connec it?? (it doesn't say anything apart the capture card inside my pc, or does it come with something)
No NTSC and PAL are two differnet systems for video broadcasting. When a PAL tape is played on a NTSC VCR or vice versa you will get all kinds of distortions including possibly B&W.
You either need a analog capture card, a break-out box that converts analog to digital or a digital camcorder that allows pass-through (see the article).
Reagrding the VCR, if it does not give the right picture when connected to TV it won't when connected to any other device, including a PC. Simple as that.
