D'oh - turns out my xbox is a v1.4 not a 1.6. Problem now is that the install instructions contradict themselves. On one page it tells you to use the D wire, and on another it says use the E wire. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't bothered!
Any help guys?

Nice one screwston, you're a star. Just powered up and getting the spiderchip boot screen. Now all I have to do is flash it then I think I'm good.
Really appreciate the help, thanks!

ok, this is what i have noticed and have not seen anybody say anything about it. I noticed that the spider chip Tutorial is different from the one located on spiderchip.com. If you look at the tutorial on www.modchipstore.com Figure 6 it shows points as c, e, d. if you look at spiderchip.com page 7. it shows c, d, e but you look at page 9 the wires are crossed c, e, d. Which is right? Has anybody sucessfully instaled it? I just dont want to burn the board up. xbox is still working. Xbox ver. 1.6 and i am able to see all solder points.

Fallow the instructions really close on how to burn the bios. The xbox is really picky. I have flashed the spider and installed evox, it has been working perfect without any problems. I recomend not to use avalaunch. Also make sure you use a bios that is 256 bios and a dummy of 100MB. find a dummy file maker, works better. I used memorex cd-rw might help. But it depends on what kind of dvd drive you have. Since I don't have a v1.6 xbox I cannot tell you the wire location but I will star with the E wire being the one close to the screw. See if that helps.

I got mine to work by following the instructions on the spiderchip website. When you burn the flash disk you have to turn off julliette or something like that. It makes anything you type all capital letters. I do have 1 problem though. It works perfect when the switch is turned on, but when I turn the chip off it frags.

It frags because the dashboard is not the microsoft one and the one you installed it works only with the bios you installed too. That's what I heard. so the switch is useless

The only thing this thing is giving me when I put in my cd with Evox is the CD-Rom LabelAfter that it wont do anything else. Does anybody know how long it is supposed to take to load. I let it sit for a while and nothing happened. It still showed the CD-rom label.

I used a very cheap cd-r and it took around 20 secs to flash. Now got a very cool evox dashboard and it's all good!
Thanks to everyone who helped!

Ok everybody. I finally figured out what my problem was. I WAS burning the cd wrong. It went ahead and let me use a CD-R. I had to go in and change a few options. It worked. I loaded the SpiderChip with Xtender or X2 or whichever one it was. The chip was flashing then the whole thing shut off like it said it should "or at least I thought so" but then it never came back on. I turned it back on and then i got the nothing but boot up and cut-off three times thing again. None of my wires came out so I really dont know what is going on.

I have a 1.6. I tried to use the m8_1.6plus but I could never find a 256k the ones I did find were like 460 something. I tried it and it said something like flash to small for image. It is to late for me to reflash it?

The M8Plus_16 is not 400 and something. In the same RARed Archive are both Bioses. You have to extract them and get the one that you need. There are the two bioses. and each of them is 256. And sorry about your question if you can still reflash it, some people might know but I am sure you can since there was nothing changed when attempted.

Oh... I wish I would have known that before. Anyway, what do I need to extract it or should I just stay with the Xecuter2?

Just extract with WinRAR and use the bios according to your xbox version and use the dummy file burn it to a cd-rw or dvd-r and that's it. Use the tutorials on the site to burn the bios.

Do you still have the option of booting into the cromwell bios. If not it might be alittle difficult to re-flash with out a programmer which spiderchip hasn't released yet. I have been trying to figure it out, but have not been able. I have read in this forum that you can use the programmer from another chip(i think the xecuetor)to re-flash. When you use winrar to unpack the bios you will have to options to use. M8 and M81.6. you want the 1.6.
