hey, whattayaknow, i found a cd-r (after rooting through everything on my desk fer an hour), set it to about 8x, and I've a working copy of Diablo now! sweet! thanks fer the help!

Ok. I burned that halo pc with alchol 120% with safedisc 2/3 and everthing and i cant play my back up. my image can off my hard drive anyonw know why?

Ok here we go,
Ive ""backed up"" several game images, various formats .iso .ccd .cue they all work as emulated agmes, but the damn games wont burn to a disk, max payne 2 wouldnt burn tried riping files and burning as a data disk, tried burnin iso as a straght image burn, then theres sims 2 same with that except with this one i burned it using Alcohol 120% on 8x using safedisc 2/3 and it completed successfully but then when i tried using the disc it wont load setup, im statrting to think this new pc i bought was a waste of time, any help much appreciated.
Media and Dvd Writer Specs. Media: TDK CD-R80 52x 700mb
Driver:VOM-12E48X
Seriously guys please help :D

What app did you use to make the images you have?

You can't remove the protection from PC games because they won't work if you do. In order to make a working copy of a PC game the protection must be read very accurately then written back to the disc very accuratey. This requires specific software, settings and an EFM capable burner. If you have a look through some of the guides and posts here you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about :)

I actually downloaded them, thats why i put ""backed up"" lol, can the make of media affect the burning process, and transfer of files?

I kind of figured as much. In that event you'll have to look to someone else for your answers because I have a real issue with folks pirating games and personally won't help with them one bit. If you had originals you wanted to copy I'd give you all the help you neeeded.
About your other question, using dirt cheap nasty CD-Rs can certainly have an effect on the burn process with high error rates or failed burns so using quality media will remove one potential problem :)

i dont generally download new games, usduslly old ones like UT and LBA really old ones, but i downloaded these, i use TDK media which i was told are really good, but i still havent had a successful write at present, I need to know what media other people use, to find out what is a good media, and if anyone uses TDK what results you get?
Any help would be appreciated TYIA !!

Hi i recently decided i wanted to backup games and have few questions about backing up and reburning the backups to disc, best brand of media?, does copy protection affect the re-burn of backups, like that anime guy said up there, tdk are bad, so a warning for people only use tdk for vcd!!!!!! i would really like to backup my games for lan parties and when lending to my mates.
If anyone would like to help i would be very happy and appreciative :D :P Over n Out

I burnt a backup of my mates Metal Gear Solid for PC, the image was fine but the burnt disc came out with no files on it, i can see the written data on the under side of the disc. i mounted image first to check the data and image for errors, and i used clone cd to burn it as i heard thi swas best for gettin past protection which is: safedisc v1 and my drive is a VOM-12E48X

Did you use CloneCD to make the image? If not, what app did you use?
At what speed did you read/write the image?
