I can confirm that this process DOES NOT work the pirated french version and DOES work on the US version.
The french version will not take the update.

Hey, i would like to know where i can get the right maps file too, i just have a question. In the file i have downloaded, there is a default.xbe too. The readme says i have to put that one in my F:/halo2/ , but i don't have a bigger harddisk??? So do i have to burn that file to the dvd? But where do i have to put that one.
I have a softmodded box with the retail harddisk.
So i have no room for the whole game on my disk, how can i still be able to play the maps?

there will just be about 200meg of files that you either burn to a disk or ftp to your xbox (e or f drive). Then you do what the instructions say....by booting up the box and installing the maps through the files you ftp'd into it. Then it installes the maps to your E drive in the gamesaves area. Once that part is done you have to ftp into your xbox and just rename a file and move one.

This all seems simple enough but now i've tried resetting the cashes and repatching to hopefully get the other 2 maps to work....but it fragged my halo2 alltogether. Now i have to figure out what the hell i did. Gay. Is there another installer avaiable or maybe a new version?

hey well its been a minute since my last real post so i'll go over this again which hopefully will help u better understand.
* this was done on my xbox runinning evoX with a 200 gig HDD. must use different method for soft modded version
1.) ftp into your xbox using an ftp app such as FlashFXP and go to E/TDATA/4d530064/
there should be absolutely nothing in this folder. if there is something in there delete it.
2.)you should already have the map pack which is named Halo_2_Map_Packs_XBOX-READNFO-AWSK. extract files.
3.)you should see a folder inside called "map pack". transfer this folder to your game directory of your xbox (this is where all your games are located should be f/ )
4.) restart xbox. go to your game list and you will see "map pack installer"
5.) choose the installer. a sceen will come up with 3 options. choose ONLY AUTO UPDATE!!!
6.)wait for it to say content copied to your xbox.
7.)reboot your xbox
8.)ftp back into the /E/TDATA/4d530064/ folder, u should see $c folder inside.
9.)go into the $c folder and you should see 4d53006400UPDATE folder
10.)Right Click On 4d53006400UPDATE folder, and choose MOVE
amd type /E/TDATA/4d530064/ choose okay.
11.)so now back up into your /E/TDATA/4d530064/ folder and you should see $c and 4d53006400UPDATE folders.
12.)Right Click on the 4d53006400UPDATE folder and select rename and rename it to $u
13.) reboot your xbox.
14.) now select map pack installer on your xbox and choose Bonus Pack.. wait for it to say installation complete.. then choosethe Killtacular Pack.. wait for it to say installation complete.
15.) youre done!
by the way does anybody play on xbc?

You can install the maps before you update,just they won't work till you update that's all.

I downloaded the map pack rar. Inside were 6 rar files, pack 1 to pack 6. I wasn't sure what to do here so I unrared the pack 1, followed the guides, but out of the 3 options I only choose the first update option instead of the bonus and Killtacular tabs. I now have 3 extra maps. Am i missing anything. What do the other two options give you and what are the other 5 rar files for?

It's a method of breaking up a large file into smaller parts. All the .rar files are actually part of one archive. When you un-rar the first....you are actually un-raring all of them.

OK! so what I did was correct. I went back and installed the bonus content which gave me two more maps. How many extra maps should you get from this map pack all up?

There should be a total of 4 maps; they are Turf, Warlock, Containment, and Sanctuary.

Alright here's my perdiciment. I have a virgin box, that I play xbox live on. And I can't order the maps due to CC being a pain, and not autorizing order. I have a copy of splinter cell, action replay, and I can exploit the game and ftp to my box to my hearts content, but whenever I go to run the installer (Either as an application, or game) I get Error 21. And I can't burn a copy and stick it in my dvd drive as Splinter Cell is in there. I have all the files, and a good knowlege of computers. Could someone post a list of what should be inside each folder inculding 4d530064, $u, $c, 4d53006400000001, as well as any folders that should be in there, that aren't. I already have version 1.1, and containment/turf. Yes I've tried deleting them to do installer with no avail. If you have any qestions, ask away.

I DL'd the pack but my read me doesnt work, either does the Map installer once I FTP it. When I launch it, it reboots Avalaunch?! All I can figure is a corrupt DL but I have tried it three different times. any help would be great!
