Yes, the magic switch is used for the flip-top PSTwos as the slide tool is used on the disc trays. And thats all you will need to play backups. To burn them a dvd-rom drive and a dvd burner and the software, eg, DVD Decryptor.

Hi
I've read black_ice's guide and I have a question:
Is the 8 step procedure required for backing up every ps2 game or just the encrypted ones?
If it's just for the encrypted ones, is there a way of telling if a ps2 game is not encrypted so we can simply make a 1:1 copy of it with nero?
thanks in advance for your help, I am also new to this...

Im pretty sure you can fit any PS2 game on a DVD-R or a DVD+R unless its DVD-9 you will have to rebuild the game. (if im wrong please correct me, i dont want to be giving wrong info)

What, like how the original games are?
If so they arent burnt they are pressed, used with a dvd/cd press. This is why the PS2 recognises them, swap magic is pressed onto a disc with the PS2 code on it so the ps2 recognises it. :)

Ok Guys,
just another lamer here..
I went and got the swap magic 3.6 and the little kit for slimline ps2. The kit works well and the discs load fine. But I've burned a few backups and I can't get any to work. I use DVD dycrypter, and Alcohol 120. The image seems to write to the discs ok, but they just wont play on the ps2. I just keep getting told that they are not ps2 discs. I have tried the TOC thing, but maybe I'm doing that wrong too. The Discoriginal i used (A wrestling game..Raw i think) just kept spinning.
I have used Memorex DVD-R, DVD-RW and also maxwell DVD+RW all with the same affect. The other thing i noticed ist that the ps2 'clicks when it's trying to read the back-ups , where as it's very smooth with the originals.
any help would be great, many thanks

PS2 cant read RW's.
Also, Memorex are said to be a bad choice for burning games.
Try Verbitam, and burn at 4x.
