kivory & mort - i daren't add any more to that one as i ended up in a debate with that guy before in that other link i posted up the page. i certainly couldn't add anything that you two didn't. Very eloquently put by both of you. Let's see if that puts paid to it or if the can of worms grows. I also couldn't follow up that reply by kivory, that was quite an epic reply!.
Amazing how my widgy little PSU can sustain an AMD 2800 furnace i mean CPU. Granted i'm only using onboard video so don't need a PSU from an IBM mainframe, but i didn't see mention of vid cards in that guy's reply, only hot lasers.
Anyway, to return to topic 'Best Buy Memorex Sale', don't buy them, buy better media :0

LOL creaky, i just wrote that off the top of my head :) j/k~
but, hey, if your power supply does the job...then that is just MORE power in your arsenal of dvd backup-ability` :)
the fact you are using onboard video, your need for power is not that great...it's the high-end vid. cards that draw MOST of the power when you are gaming/video editing/ etc. and naturally will depend on the speed of the processor and the amount of memory you have to sustain such activities.
"hot lasers" sounds powerful*~ guess u MUST need a STRONG PSU to maintain that too~ which would equate to good dvd backups on crap media~* :) *sarcasm noted for those that have no clue what we are talking about*
anyways, i won't digress anymore here...Best Buy is good ONLY when they have their sales on GOOD MEDIA, and in my opinion, that is Verbatim, Fuji/Sony 8x dvd+r MADE IN JAPAN , and that is about it~ :) GOOD MEDIA also applies to the Fuji 8x dvd-r IF YOU CAN FIND THE VERY SCARCE MADE IN JAPAN ONES...but, i haven't seen it for MONTHS now~ Taiyo Yuden back again~
@mort you should get some rest...it's 2:30am here, yes i had a long day, but, wanted to get a few good quality posts in before i knock out, i got PM coming out the wazooo over the last few days, trying to reply to as many of them as i can before i turn in...good night buddy~ :)

I just ordered 100 Taiyo Yuden 8X dvd-r's from Rima.com. Same price but with a couple differences: The Ty's will burn, they will play, and one year from now will still be usable media in every way! Stay away from Memorex, it's total crap, to put it mildly!

I have no clue where the guy is coming from re: FAT32. Every burn I do is with a FAT32 system. In the past 3-4 months (since I got my new burner), I have burned about 75-80 movies (went back and re-did some of the old memorex ones) and everyone of them plays perfectly. Everything I learned about burning was here in AD - this place rocks!
My wife is recovering from surgery (6/22) and she has spent the last 6 weeks mostly sitting in a chair or lying in bed reading and watching dvd's (what a life). On some days she watched 2 or 3 dvd's and said not one stopped/pixelated/skipped, yada, yada, at all.

NO! Don't laugh! He's right! I plugged my computer into the 220 outlet in the laundry room and now every blank Ty I take off the spindle is a perfect copy of a film that hasn't even been in theaters yet! I've got Harry Potter on social security, the Grudge pt. 8, Star wars episode -009 where Darth Grumpy's Dada fills his first diaper using only the force (and the handicap rails!), Friday the 13th part 42, Jason Takes a long look at his past deeds and converts to scientology, and Geriatrics Play: Chucky takes a laxative! It's a real phenomenon! Don't laugh!

The mailman is leaving me tips in the box because the movies are being projected holographically on his windshield before he delivers my next spindle! Oh, and did I mention my gas mileage improved?

FWIW, I bought some 8X Memorex DVD-R's from Walmart when the 25packs went onsale and they turned out to be Ritek G05's. They were the colored ones. I haven't had any coasters after 300+ discs.

I agree with kivory666...I burn TY's and Verbs...TY's work perfect in my Denon 2200 and that is just awe-some. I burn 4x or less in speed. NO COASTERS when I use the right media. Memorex is so unstable and non-reliable that a good deal with memorex...well just simply run and spend more and get the best. You also are dealing with time, and why waste time burning and then when you are ready to watch the copy is full of glitches. Doesn't make sense. Stick with TY's, Verbs, Sony's (when you find a great deal!).

:) Memosux is going DOWN...only good deal on memorex is if you find them DIRT CHEAP at any given store and you intend on using them as table coasters to keep those ugly rings off your table, no harm no foul, "burning" them w/ a hot mug of coffee would be the ONLY "burning" i will ever do with them. TY and Verbs 4 Life~ but, now even MORE so than before...Taiyo Yuden is THE way to go~ :)

:) aabbccdd, well, i have plenty of the TYG02s too, there is no discernable quality differences between my TYG01s and my TYG02s...the rated speed of 4x vs 8x is not a factor for all my TYs.
i burn my 4x DVD-R TYG01s @4x and my 8x DVD-R TYG02s @ 8x, LOL...hey, it works for ME, despite anyone else, or better yet, EVERYONE else burning everything @4x. :) i still recommend to everyone to keep burning speed slow @ 4x, but, i myself burn mine @8x with NO PROBLEMS at all. regarding 16x media, i burn those @ 8x too, because 16x is just TOO fast, even for me :)
ditch the memorex people, go with the TYs :)

I have been using those TYGO2's pretty exclusively and they have come up perfect on scans, not one error in them. Of course I only burn at 4x even though my Plexie has a love affair with these disks and will burn them at 16x if I let it, and the online price can't be beat. I have come to the conclusion by ordering TY's at least I know what I am getting. Do not have to try and figure out who is making what with TY you get TY, as long as you buy from reputable dealer.
