@andmerr: first choose your words more wisely, i have no growing up to do for mentioning "stay on topic" I was refering to the babbling about the cup crap you were talking about and cdcovers, keep it in a PM and leave this thread about lightscribe AND its alternatives.

@gwendolin: not sure what the hell your even talking about. I love how because i decided to sign up soooo late in life and haven't been plastered behind a computer on this board for hundreds of years everyone thinks i'm a NEWBIE. lovely.

Shakin my head - I thought reading was fundamental?
Is it just me - or do dvd covers PRINTED WITH LIGHTSCRIBE WRITERS and INKJET PRINTERS have something to do with this topic.
Geez!
Oh I guess it was on topic when he/she wanted to see examples & discuss them - BUT not when others are discussing it.

i came to this thread to get some lightscribe info. i found the stuff between those times gwendolin mentioned, was on topic.
@qwik3r2 - i've found the info here more than informative, plus was pleased to see alternative info that wasn't just about lightscribe, ie i have some more ideas now from when i first started reading the thread. What i do see is that the other guys (including a Moderator) have kept the thread going with relevant discussion in your absence. Which is good otherwise the thread might have easily been left to gather dust with all the other threads. I have found all discussions very useful myself.. The other posters have actually supplemented the info you requested, don't you think ?

Well I found all this very interesting:
A simple question is asked on the Newbie forum.
A well respected, and knowledgeable member replies; in his well known 'folksy'style.
"Don't waste My, and My 'Bosses' valuable time!" Berates the newbie.
"I'm really a PC expert!"
An expert newbie who apparently can't use google? Thinks gringle. :)
The ever sociable, Mod Ireland joins the thread, and proceeds to copy and paste, the required information.
Having now been spoonfed this information. The expert newbie who apparently can't use google. Purrs with satisfaction, thinks gringle. :)
The thread meanders (as all threads do) around the topic, other members give their experiences, problems, and advice.
"Get back on the topic!" Demands the expert newbie who apparently can't use google One of them google junkies, I've read about thinks gringle :)
More info is exchanged; before the thread degenerates into a Who said what, and who wrote that? Sort of thread.
I read this for the first time last night, and I agree with creaky, this has all been very informative.
The main lesson I've learned is; don't be rude to folks, and never trust a google junkie;)

Ok this has gotten out of hand. It scares me that gwendolin took the time to actually see when i posted last and is keeping track of me. I view the thread from work and see how its going but at this point i will no longer be doing so. What further more boggles my mind is how people have the time to actually sit down and write a story in this thread about me being a newbie, i mean come on, do you people have jobs? I will admit that i called talking about labels off topic to be incorrect, it is relevant. And to those who still have such a hatred for me because they think i didn't use google, guess again that is how i got here to begin with and to date i have not found a good enough thread about lightscribe until i came here, read through most of them and decided to start my own and until a few pompous egotistical nerds chimed in to change the subject or FIGHT WITH ME it WAS a good and INTERESTING topic. I blame myself for lowering myself to actually respond to some of this.
What would be nice is everyone could drop this B.S. and get back on track, forgetting it and actually talking about lightscribe, sound good? Thanks.

@qwik3r2 - no-one's out to get at you, we're not the ones protesting about newbie status; in my opinion that's what's stopping this thread getting back on track. no-one here cares about status. i got 'addict' status under my name - so what ?; i'm not an expert on everything and i certainly don't look down on anyone with less than 'addict' status under their name. it's how ppl behave in public forums that's important. why don't you call a truce instead ?. i do have a job, it pays well enough and i got promoted in that job few times from mainly using google and common sense. Also from being feisty too but knowing how far to go with that feistyness. Anyway none of that has jack to do with lightscribe. Maybe you can meet everyone in the middle ie lay off the beef about the 'newbie' under your username cus it isn't an insult to anyone to have that under their name..

creaky: was not refering to you about not having a job, i was rather refering to those who keep they're eyes glued to this thread, waiting for me to respond, tracking when i DO respond and taking it so far as to write up a very non amusing story except to those feeble minded individuals who are obviously evil enough to take joy when a blow is made to someone else. I could careless about this honestly, i have alwasy been one to respond, fight back etc, and as i posted above, i did say i wanted to END this and just get back on topic. I really don't want this thread to be looked up by someone seeking relevant lightscribe info and come across a bunch if idiots babbling back and forth which is what this thread mostly consists of now. If everyone else can stop taking hits at me and acting like its they're first time behind the wheel of one of these things than i'd be more than happy to drop it, stop arguing and get back on track. gwendolin, I really appreciate the information that you gave to me and that it was possible to write directly to a CD without Lightscribe or other burners by using a Canon Pixma 4000 printer. I think it is on topic to compare other CD/DVD writers along with Lightscribe. That is the purpose of these chat rooms, to gain information and knowledge.

that was very eloquent pete as usual you do a great read.
Back to the topic at hand i enquired about the actual lightscribe discs (dvd) 3 months ago and was quoted $3 aus.Now 3 maonths later they are half that price.(are there a variety available)
Light scribe cdr's are here as well and about $!.20 per disc.Has any one got any info on them.
