In Nero you can use Nero Drive Speed to set the speed. In Shrink mine shows 1X all the way up to 16X in increments of 1X. Most of the time the speed is set by the blank media you use. Try 4x blank media. If that does not work send an email to Nero and ask why? List everything : system spec's, include burner, ram, OS, Mobo. It might be a glitch w/in the software as it is not recog'ing the media or the burner. If I was sitting in front of the computer I could probably figure it out but on a forum the odds are 50/50. Someone else might have a better idea so leave the thread open but e-mail Nero in the mean time

@ozzymary, Anytime you post a Nero log you should delete the serial number starting with 1A20.

This is from your last log post:
Can only write at 8x (11,080 KB/s) instead of 16x (22,160 KB/s) to current disc.

You are burning to CMC MAG manufactured blanks.(not a good choice).

As stated before you may need to purchase 4x blank discs which will insure 4x burning since in most cases the burner drives will max out at the rated speed of the blank itself.

@ozzymary -

first of all i haven't read thru the whole thread as i'm at work (ie i may well have replied on this thread already)

- Oh God, not CMC Magnetics discs again. try decent media as those are utter atrocious rubbish i'm afraid...
Quote:
Burn process completed successfully at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
- you're torturing those appalling, fould discs with 8x, try 4x. But get decent discs

You should save the Windows version of the firmware update to the desktop. Now click on it and it should ask you if you want to run it and then run it

i dont know about anyone else but this thread is getting a little confusing to me.

@ozzymary
could you explain in a little more detail what you are doing.if you are trying to install firmware you shouldnt need any program to open it.the firmware is a program in itself.unless you copied the firmware to your comp in zip format.then you would need to unzip it with a zip program.

@mossfan84
whats your prognosis?and did you see the post that i posted telling you that you have a hp 300c and not a hp 300i?

first off,welcome to the thread.but you will need to post a log before anybody can help you with your problem...just kidding.it would be funny to have another log posted though.but you cant assume that the problem you are having is because the disc you are using.so you have to explain your dilema before a conclusion can be made.

you dont know how hilarious that sounded after reading my previous post.

you saved the file instead of opening it and then extracting it to your hard drive so it might still be compressed(zipped).so try using a zip program on it.
