You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading; The few who learn by observation;
The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves...

@regor,
Right on bro, I have 12 grand kids and 8 great-grand kids and as my favorite guy once said?.
~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.
That was Will Rogers...

Thought I'd put in a plug for my dear ol' Dad. I'm 53 but at that, I was an "accident"; my Dad will be 100 in June. He is the youngest of 18 kids (farmers/lumberjacks in Quebec all had huge families)and my aunt Germaine, his sister, is still going strong at 102. I remember (barely) my grandma, dad's Ma, who died at 102 when I was five or six (she looked and acted like grandma on the old Beverly Hillbillies!)...hard to believe she was born before the civil war! It's neat at family dinners ... five generations at the table. Dad recently got his first great great grandson. At 53, I'm in a hell of a precarious position though...seems we either die around fifty or live to be over 100! On my office wall, I have dozens of ancient photographs (great icebreaker given my kind of work) and the wierd thing is, I knew every one of them. Sort of neat.

Hi ddp! That was an unintentionally loaded question on your part but, if only by point of fact, the answer to that is no; I'm a first generation american born in New England. My parents are from Ste. Felix de Valois and Ste. Jude in Quebec. I was born and raised in a totally french canadian (some folks would give me serious hell for that) town in New England; even the schools were taught in French. I spent quite a lot of my childhood in Joliette and Ste. Jude. I spoke very poor english until I went to high school in Rhode Island where I was kept back because of my poor english. I've lost most of my accent except for the occasional slip but give me a couple of drinks and slowly, "H" and "th" become impossible to pronounce and say things like " Me, I tink dat..." and everyone gets a good chuckle! While I like to think that I've gotten the best of both cultures, I was raised in a totally french canadian culture and I miss it more that I can say as I now live in Philadelphia. I often think of trying to find a way to move to Quebec; the U.S. is a great country with wonderful people and it is a privilege to be a citizen(so please, folks, don't write back and call me nasty names) but given the people and the culture in which I was raised, the simple truth is that I miss it and sometimes feel like the proverbial fish out of water. I think about moving to Quebec all the time and back to the culture and my roots from which I frequently feel estranged. I know you asked a very brief and simple question, ddp, but I didn't know how to respond in kind! Sorry for rambling!

I am 57, and have been married for 38 years have two daughters and 1 son. I have 7 grandsons and 1 very spoiled grandaughter. Age is just a number it's your outlook on life that counts and what you do with it.

At 63:Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

38 years is a long time to be married. I know because my lovely bride and I will celebrate #38 on the 18th of this month. I am still on my honeymoon and loving every minute. We have 2 sons (35 & 30), but no grandchildren. We have 2 "grand dogs", a 5 year old 120 lb. Akita and a 1 year old 60 lb. Akita/Malumute(?) mix.

It is a long time to be married, but yet as my wife and I get older it just seems like yesterday. Our anniversary is in Jan. and it will then be number 39. And we too still have our kids at home, I mean the 10lb mini dachshund and our 135lb shepherd, who is the real "arniebear". I guess I can say over the past few years my life has really gone to the dogs :o
