Depends how much you know and can help, AND STAY OUT OF TROUBLE. I may never be a senior member, been here for almost 2 years. That's fine with me, because quite honestly I will always be a newbie.

I think that we are ALL still newbies in one way or another. Frankly, I would never have bothered with anyhting to do with DVD's to start with if it hadn't been for this site. I have my way of doing things thanksd to the reading available, not saying it is the best but it works for me every time. After that I move on to the next thing I want to do. Congrats to the mods who do a lot of work in here, and to the all knowing senior members and adicts without whose help none of us would be doing anything.

@paul1085,
read this link as it will explain what the karma system is (the 1st page)http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/305094. Basically under the karma system is when you are given credit by fellow members based on the usefulness of your answer.

Right then your reward is ........ 10 points. lol
I think it does sounde like a good idea as it will prevent senior members and members from talking out of there arse (as to me these people will always be newbies)
Not trying to be cocky but there has been a couple of times when I'v had to correct people ranked above me from giving bad advise (not mentioning any names)
The only real problem with this karma system would be like borhan9 said about newbies either not rewarding you (gold coins would be nice), not knowing how the system works so can't reward you any points or if they don't like the answer (ie too muchy work for them to do on there own behalf) or not wanting to be helped at all.

I personally think there is two main downsides to a karma system --
<1> The first would be that some members would give negative karma purely out of spite/disliking for another member, which would make things extremely heated & unsettled.
<2> The second issue would be that people may just get/give out karma based on friends/people they like rather than those giving out real tech advice.
On a last note, why is this page so wide?

I was gonna ask the same thing but didn't know whether it was just my browser viewing it that way.
Again not being cocky so don't take this the wrong way but I think its because of Ireland's link is so long (halfway down the page)
