@permiggs...blue hair seemed rather exotic but the redhead will do fine. Its most kind of you to share! But at the risk of sounding like a dope, what is "mais" operated?
@xboxdvl2...I am an artist; I paint and draw quite a lot so I know exactly what you mean by female nudes and fine art; there are certain poses in porn sites though which would send ripples through the art world!

@Ireland:...I'll bet you do have quite the collection! I wish I could go through them; you'd be surprised how many ideas you get simply by leafing through the work of others or studying their techniques. One of these days, I'm going to rephotograph my work and post a few in the profiles section. Forgive the conceit but I'm actually quite good. I'm in the midst of developing a style or technique for large spaces...artwork painted specifically to viewed at a distance. Most artwork downscales, i.e., landscapes, seascapes, ships, mountain ranges, sunsets etc. etc. Its an overly simplistic explanation but I'm doing the opposite...I'm taking something small but attractive and painting or drawing it many times larger to be viewed from 20, 30, 40 feet away. The big problem I'm running into is that at least 50% of my attempts totally collapse when viewed too close...perfect at a distance but up close, it falls apart. I just completed one that came out far better than I'd ever expected (even up close). A friend has a really great photograph of just the face of his all black cat and I did a 5X4 ft. oil. Its almost all black but white where the light reflects of the hair and wiskers but the color of the eyes is an intense amber. I'm going to sell it and I think I can get some decent bucks for it. It's o.k. up close but perfect about thirty feet away and the eyes just follow you around. I'll post it in my profile. I'm also particularly good at drawings depicting moonlight scenes... someone just laying on a bed asleep with moonlight coming through the venetian blinds, beach scenes with moonlight on the water, reflecting off the trees, ships in silhoutte etc. I do it with either white wax pencils or white charcoal on high grade black paper (or very light blue on indigo). In a couple of weeks, I may post for some advice on digital cameras and my use of them in artwork; I noticed you answered some in that forum. I'll manipulate in photoshop to come up with a draft which I'll then paint or draw. Well, my apologies for being so wordy; you got me started on my favorite subject! Hopefully, when I'm ready to buy a digital camera in a few weeks, you'll give me your advice and opinions!....Gerry (Jeez, talk about off topic!)

@permiggs; .... ah...o.k....but the same question applies, what is "mains" operated? "Main" if the french word for hand; is that what you meant....hand operated? If so, there's still much to be said for that; it's certainly uncomplicated, no cajoling required, no unnecessary chatter, you don't need to buy your hand flowers or dinner, it doesn't get a headache etc. etc.

Seems the differences in the english language on opposite sides of the pond are just enough to make things interesting. If memory serves, to say that a woman is "homely" in England means that she's personable, hospitable and makes you feel at home; in the US, when you say that a woman is "homely" it means that she's downright and unquestionably butt-ugly, she's a real double bagger.

Howdy Gear! How've you been? How did you make out with ScubaBud and your second HDD? There really hasn't been much going on in the home theater forum...I left a post for our buddy looking to connect only two speakers to his Denon and another for this guy who wanted a kick-ass center speaker seemingly without consideration to the rest of them. That's about it!
I'll probably start a couple of threads tomorrow. I want to get a digital camera for my artwork and while I'm pretty good with a 35mm, I don't know crap about digials. Basically, I'll post how I'd use it and for what and see what sort of suggestions I get. I might also post asking for advice about a projector for my artwork...I'm not looking to use it for hometheater or powerpoint presentations but rather just to occasionally project an image for a sketch which I'll then draw or paint. I want someting to connect to my PC (I got a second junkie one from work just for this purpose). I've been using an opaque projector when I needed to do this but they really really suck. (It's income tax return time and time to start considering my new toys!)
Hope you are well boss. Time for me to go to bed. Its only 8:30 but I've got to get up at 4:00 a.m. Take it easy! ... Gerrt

LMAO! F##K for the queen! Jeez, gear, how can us U.S. boys say something similar? ...F##K for George? ...just ain't the same somehow. We could do it for Lady Liberty but lets face it, she's something of a double bagger herself...not to mention big, hard and green.
Most Americans are rather intrigued by this royal family thing...I think that, subconsciously, there is still this "motherland" thing; when something nasty happens to england, the people of the US still get pretty pissed off but don't understand why.
Hey Gear, can you imagine the fun we'd have trying to put together a home theater system for Windsor Castle? Acoustics must be a real bitch but then again, we could put all those tapestries to practical use!

I know it can be weird for you, but i'm sure you also have those one liners in US... I watch a lot of movies and i heard quite a few... We brits try to keep slang to a minimun...
If we put the whole slang down, even we struggle to understand...
But hey, after a Tiddly Wink and a nice bit of Jack Straw we kinda understand anything that comes this way... Well, now i'm gonna go for a good old Barry White, since the old Gary Glitter is finally free... So Spanish Waiter guys!

Translation of cockney slang:
But hey, after a drink and a nice bit of cannabis we kinda understand anything that comes this way... Well now i'm gonna go for a good old sh¦te, since the old sh¦ter is finally free... So catch you later guys!
Like i said sometimes even we can't understand this stuff... There's so many different ones! LOL
I want to learn a few US ones... Like i said before, i know a few from films etc, but i'm sure there's a lot more!
[edit]That's better!

I was born in England, raised in the US, and went back to the UK in while in the USAF. Yes things can be very confusing. Its like you understand most of the words (or think you do) but some of them can really throw you off. Someone coming by to see you will "knock you up" and believe me, that means something else completely in the US. I had a landlord and i couldn't understand a thing he said until after 6 months of living there. He had a "Cockney" accent?? or something like that.
Somebody say blue hair??
