You have totally confused me here.
So you have backups on cds and proper umds
you bought a 1.5, and now you just updated to 2.0?
so now you have a 2.0? so have you tried the umds to see if they work.
If they are working we can move on to next step to get your backups on the cds to work.

What did it say?
Lets do the update first,
1. Put in a UMD that needed a 2.0 update to play
2. Go to GAME on the psp and press X
3. Look for a UMD icon with system software/update 2.0 press X
Tell me what it does/says

Do this, In your psp youll find four menus,
SETTINGS, PHOTO,MUSIC,VIDEO and GAME,
go to settings then press down and find SYSTEM SETTINGS press X
another page comes up with name etc, go down to find RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS and press X
Now once youve done this and default settings are restored try the update again
This time words should come up with the X and 0
Press X and follow the instructions

No problems remember not to turn your psp off or take out battery, during the update process only takes a couple minutes anyway.
Once done try the UMDs if all are working then we can start on getting those backups to work.

You can edit messages, go to the message you wrote and in the tope right hand corner youll see a little letter click on it and you will be able to edit.
Moderators would prefer if you edit instead of posting another message if noone answered, but dont worry thats how i was when i first started to, until sumone told me.
On the top right hand corner of other ppls messages youll see a little mans face, thats private message you can send other users private messages like your email (as your not allowed to show on screen) or just questions which might violate rules.
Not telling you off, just giving you a heads up.

I dont want to sound mean, especially to sumones mum. What i mean is if yu have a typo you can just edit it. Or if youve posted, and youve gotten no reply yet and need to say something else eg your last 2 posts, then you should use edit to add what you wanted to say into one msg instead of 2.
EDIT: No need to edit anything unless you want to fix your typos
EDIT 2: it depends what your updating to? if its 2.0 then no its not true we can help you downgrade, but if it higher then 2.01 then dont do the upgrade.

To downgrade from 2.0 here is what you do.
You are going to need this file
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/3 and this file
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4 1. Take the h.dat and the index file and put them in your root folder(next to psp and umdemulator)
2. Take overflow.tiff and put it in your PSP/Photo Menu.
3. Make a new folder in your PSP/GAME CALLED UPDATE. Put the 1.5 upgrade in there.
4. Go to your photo menu, and press down. You should see a black screen with white letters. If not turn your psp off and try again. do not downgrade til you see the black screen with the white letters, this is a very important step
5.After you see the black screen with the white letters wait 30 seconds turn you psp off and turn it on again, Go to the game menu through your PSP and click the 1.5 update. make sure your psp is plugged into the charger. Do not remove the charger at anytime, Do not remove the battery, Don't do anything but press X to start the downgrade
Your psp is going to get to 99% and say that the update failed. This is perfectly normal. Wait 30 seconds after this happened and turn your psp off.
6. Turn your psp back on its going to say an error happened. This is normal as well. Just rebuild your psp like it instructs you to do.
7. You now have a 1.5 psp
To play a game from a cd here is what you do.
Put the cd in and open its contents. You are going to see that the games will say XXXX.iso this is normal. LIke for instance you might see Ms Pac Man.iso
Create a folder in the main directory(next to psp, mp_root and call it ISO
take the games from the cd and drop them in the ISO folder
THATS IT!!!
Now turn on your psp, go to game and you are going to see a yellow face with a wickid smile and it says UMD Emulator. Click this and then press down and select the iso you want to play and press x.
And voila.
